6:05 p.m. ET: Miley Cyrus is the early bird and she looks like she caught some sort of princess worm. Decked out in a tiered white dress with silver sparkles, Miley’s dress is one Scarlett O’Hara would be proud of. Also, just saw “Milk” star Emile Hirsch in a little black suit.
6:22: “Mamma Mia!” star Dominic Cooper just arrived, and Hugh Jackman has confirmed that he will be performing with him, as well as Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.
6:30: Speaking of, Zac just arrived in a tux and bow tie and slicked-back hair. Oh, to be 17 again! And, he’s followed by Vanessa Hudgens in a black gown with white flowers and black sequin detailing. She says she wanted to look like Audrey Hepburn. If she says so…
6:44: The adorable little kids from “Slumdog Millionaire” have arrived and are so cute!! Also there are Freida Pinto and Dev Patel who are embracing glam! Dev is in a tux and Freida is in a royal blue gown with sequined detailing and one sleeve. Sometimes one sleeve doesn’t work, but on her it does.
6:50: Taraji Henson is proving to be quite the fashionista in her white gown with great detailing and an extremely wonderful diamond necklace. I want it now! And she seems like kind of a sweetheart!
6:55: RPATTZZZ (aka Robert Pattinson)!!!!!! has been spied. Current hair status: getting long enough to run your fingers through. And Heidi Klum and Seal have arrived. Heidi is wearing a red gown, like last year. And in fact the dress looks almost the same as the one she wore last year. UM, she has a lot of bangles on!
7:04: Amy Adams is here in a strapless red number with black geometric detailing with a multi-jeweled necklace that appears to weigh as much as she does. Also, in red is “Mamma Mia!” starlet Amanda Seyfried (though hers is more tomato) and she too is rocking a very sparkly diamond dress. They do say, diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
7:12: Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have arrived. SJP is showing a lot of cleavage in what appears to be a ballerina-esque white dress. A very classic SJP look indeed! Another couple alert: Diane Lane in a black column gown with her hubby Josh Brolin. And, we have to say that Robert Downey Jr. has de-aged a few years…hmm…
7:15: RPattz update! He looks like a scruffy James Bond. If he’s your thing, then he’s looking perfect for you…WHO IS THAT WOMAN ON JAMES FRANCO’s ARM?????? He looks amazing and therefore should be on my arm!
7:20: James’ BFF Seth Rogen has made his way on the carpet. He’s in glasses and he’s looking trim. Also looking fit is Marisa Tomei in a white gown with an asymmetrical detail across her shoulders. Anne Hathaway also looks white-hot in her sparkly strapless gown. She looks like she’s wearing scales, in a good way.
7:28: Mickey Rourke is in a white Gaultier tux. And he has won my heart by commemorating his dog, Loki, with a necklace with her picture on it. By far, best accessory of the night!
7:31: Like Freida, Queen Latifah is rocking the one sleeve and sequins. I give her props for taking the chance.
7:35: Peter Gabriel is there, but he forgot his tie. Marion Cotillard has arrived in a black sequined gown. Perfect! Evan Rachel Wood, like so many of her fellow actresses and her “Wrestler” co-stars, is rocking the white. She looks very pulled together.
7:38: Brad and Angelina have arrived. She’s in a black gown with her hair pulled back in soft waves and large emerald earrings. She is perfectly complemented by Brad in a tux. Swoon! They look like Hollywood royalty!
7:42: Penelope Cruz also in a cream, strapless, lacy ball gown — at least she brushed her hair, unlike Philip Seymour Hoffman. Really? A knit cap…for real!!!
7:45: In an off-white column gown with a big bow, Jessica Biel [Ed Note: we originally had Alba and we apologize for the Jessica confusion.] looked decidedly UNbeautiful. Beyonce looked fug in a black and gold gown. Ugh! Her mom must have officially run out of ideas and used the couch’s fabric. Someone not fug, however, is Kate Winslet, in a one-shoulder steel gray and black beaded gown. She looks very feminine and chic.
7:51: Tilda Swinton’s hair, skin and top half of her dress all match. EEKK!! Where’s Jen Aniston and John Mayer? I’m waiting to see a real life celebrity death match! Alicia Keys has arrived in a rose colored gown. It’s nice to see someone not wearing white or red.
8:14: Viola Davis shines in a bronze halter gown. Once again, where is Jen and John?? John has once again disappointed me! (This is a lie. We have in fact never met before.)
8:20: Meryl Streep has arrived in a gray, off-the shoulder gown with lots of draping. She looks very beautiful and lady-like.
8:25: The show is about to begin! The ladies looked either white hot or red hot (those being the trend colors of the night) and made sure they didn’t forget the diamonds. The guys looked extremely formal in their tuxes. Men, please note: a guy always looks good in a tux!
